About Me

Marcelle1

A space for stories, journeys, and the wisdom that grows with us. I did not begin travelling alone because I was fearless. Like many women later in life, I carried more uncertainty than confidence when I first stepped into the world on my own. I wondered whether adventure still belonged to me. I worried about safety, loneliness, and whether I would feel invisible travelling alone at this stage of life. But somewhere between quiet cafés, unfamiliar streets, long train journeys, and unexpected conversations with strangers, something changed. I began to rediscover myself. Travel became more than simply visiting new places. It became a way of reconnecting with freedom, curiosity, confidence, and a quieter, deeper understanding of who I was becoming.

Elderschattravels was born from that experience. It was also shaped by the women who came before me, mothers, aunties, grandmothers, mentors, women whose stories carried wisdom, warmth, resilience, and grace. The kind of women who taught us how to listen carefully, live thoughtfully, and find meaning in ordinary moments. Their voices remain part of this space. Elderschattravels is for mature travellers, thoughtful wanderers, and anyone who believes life continues to expand with age rather than shrink. It is for those who still feel curious about the world and about themselves. This is not a place for rushed itineraries or endless bucket lists. It is about meaningful travel. Slow travel. Travel that leaves room for reflection, connection, and wonder.

Here, you will find stories shaped not only by destinations, but by the moments that stay with us long after the journey ends: -a sunrise in a quiet village -the nervousness of dining alone for the first time -conversations with strangers that unexpectedly linger -the quiet confidence that slowly grows with every journey You will also find reflections on ageing, wellness, books, culture, creativity, and living intentionally. I believe ageing is not a decline, but an expansion, a widening of perspective, compassion, self-awareness, and freedom. If you have ever: -wondered whether you were too old to travel alone -hesitated before booking a solo trip -worried about navigating unfamiliar places on your own -felt the quiet desire to rediscover yourself again You are not alone here.

Elderschattravels exists because experience deserves a voice. Because every chapter of life still holds the possibility of discovery, connection, and transformation. More than a travel website, this is a gathering place for thoughtful living, honest storytelling, and the belief that adventure does not disappear with age. There is still so much of the world left to see. And so much of ourselves is still waiting to be discovered along the way. I’m grateful you’re here!
